About our cause
Age Concern Bracknell Forest provides a much loved and valued service for the community. The Charity is celebrating 50 years of supporting the local community, registered with CIO status.
Age Concern Bracknell Forest (ACBF) works independently from any national charity to support elderly people across Bracknell (and wider). We have a Day Centre facility specialising in delivering quality care for the elderly. We are fully dementia friendly.
We pride ourselves on offering exceptional care, and a strong activities roster that keeps our members active and engaged. Our members and their individual needs are the primary focus and drive for our charity as we believe people matter.
Age Concern Bracknell Forest is proud to run community groups operating to combat and reduce social isolation for older people in the community.
Our Day Centre is open five days a week, open to all.
Dementia Friendly: For a person with dementia, diagnosis attracts stigma, social isolation and personal discrimination, we combat that giving them a safe and secure space, free from judgment that is active and stimulating as well as ensuring basics like eating and drinking are monitored and medication is taken.
We currently have x2 community groups running. One group at the Priestwood Community Centre and another at Bullbrook Community Centre. Socialization is the key to a healthy mind, especially for an elderly person. We believe the mind is just as important as the physical body. Once an elderly person stops socializing, they withdraw and become lonely and isolated. Social activities can also help people reduce stress and anxiety, which is what ultimately leads to lower blood pressure levels and we want our members/clients to feel they still have valuable space in our community.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
Our predominant focus for the money raised will be to continue to be able to operate our excellent care for the elderly. With costs ever-increasing post pandemic we need your help.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
Yours sincerely,
Mr Andrew Eltham
